Julia Roberts Named Peoples 2017 Worlds Most Beautiful Woman
It’s been 26 years since Julia Roberts first appeared as World’s Most Beautiful Woman. However, this is about to change as the 49- year-old actress, for a record fifth time, has been named the Most Beautiful Woman in the World in People’s May 1 issue.
“I am very flattered. It will become embarrassing. Right now, let’s just keep it with flattering.” – Roberts told People’s editor-in-chief, Jess Cagle.
The actress and Lancôme brand ambassador first appeared on the cover of the World’s Most Beautiful issue in 1991 at age 23 – just a year after she had starred alongside Richard Gere in the breakaway hit Pretty Woman.
“Was I old enough to be voted into this level of popularity?” she jokes.
She then found herself on the list again in 2000, 2005 and 2010 — and now 2017! This also means she has won three more times than George Clooney’s record for Sexiest Man Alive.
“I’m going to mention that in my Christmas card to the Clooneys this year.”- she responded.
In the issue—which hits newsstands Friday—Roberts discusses everything from life at home with her three children (12-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and Henry, 9), her marriage and even beauty tips.
