In tonight’s #1000lbsisters episode, there were signs looking back. Like Tammy not wanting to go over to Amy’s house. Or Amy’s family trying to talk her out of having kids with Michael. Or even Amy’s recent spike in temper. There were plenty of signs of stress as well as overall breakdown of Amy and Michael’s marriage, but for a while he had people fooled.
He seemed like such a caring guy. Until you realize he doesn’t have a job. He spends most of his days playing video games and that’s why he never wants to watch the kids. He couldn’t multitask. He was also very controlling. He didn’t think Amy should go out on her own. He either wants her watching the kids or he’s coming with her.
Michael also took ownership over her credit cards. It’s in her name. It’s stemming from money she’s making on TLC and still he was the one that had them.
He didn’t think he could trust her with her own money. He probably knew she’d leave him if he allowed her access to her money. In that sense, he wasn’t wrong. Amy has done everything she can to make this marriage work and she couldn’t be the only one fighting for them. Michael does not care about her. He doesn’t seem to care about the kids. He just cares about himself.
Michael tried to stop her from hanging out with her sisters. He couldn’t give her that. He instead claimed that he wanted to go shopping and it was only when he was confronted by Amanda that he was willing to allow her to go out by herself. Key word being “allow”. He used it. Amy used it.
They both have gotten too comfortable with that word and so Tammy called the police. Michael gave up the debit card the second he saw the cops. Rumor has it he has a record for domestic violence. Some are claiming that it was from a previous relationship before he met Amy.
Which everyone should have seen coming.
But the worst part about all of this was that Amy blames herself. She thought she’s the one that broke up a family. Not that they were barely a family to begin with.
Amy made a lot of excuses for Michael because she didn’t really grow up with a dad. She wanted something better for her own children. She wanted them to have that happy family life that she missed out on. This was also why she seemed to internalize her fight with Michael. She blamed herself. She failed to see him as this gaslighting manipulator that he is.
Amy took her boys to Tammy’s new place. They were going to be staying with Tammy while Amy figures out what to do next. Amy’s biggest fear is that she won’t be able to be both mom and dad. Tammy was willing to help her as best she could. So where the other siblings. They all wanted to be there to support her. They also knew that Tammy and Amy could not live together for long. The two were bound to butt heads. The only reason it didn’t happen instantly because Tammy has gotten better about her own behavior.
Tammy really learned to calm down at the rehab facility. She’s better about her health. She misses her husband and so having Amy also helped to combat her own loneliness. They also weren’t always together. Tammy had to travel out of town to see Dr. Smith. She went with Chris. Chris wanted skin removal.
He’s lost a lot of weight and the sagging skin that was left over was weighing him down. Chris was told to lose at least fifty pounds the next time the doctor saw him and he didn’t do that. He plateaued.
Chris was told that its okay. These things happen. He just has to focus on his intake and finally shed the necessary fifty pounds to qualify for skin removal.
He went back to hardcore working out. He did so with his sisters when they weren’t helping Amy transfer her money out of a joint checking account with Michael. Amanda and Misty had needed to sweat out their recent smoking. They had stopped for a while and then they started up again in the stress of the blow up with Michael. And so they needed to get that out of their system before they could qualify for surgery.
Tammy even encouraged her husband to talk to Dr. Smith. Caleb had a video-appointment with the doctor. He also got weighed somewhere nearby and unfortunately he’s gained some weight since Tammy left. He was an emotional eater. He started eating junk food after Tammy left the rehab.
The doctor told him that if Tammy could turn things around then so could he. Caleb was still upset because this pushed back the chance of leaving the rehab to go live with Tammy. They got married when neither of them was particularly healthy. And when they thought they could lose weight together.
Caleb has a trach still in. He couldn’t get that removed until he lost weight. He was looking at least a year separation before he was healthy enough to leave the rehab and unfortunately he and Tammy didn’t get their happy ending. These episodes are aired months after they’re filmed. Meaning everyone knows by now that Caleb passes away.
THE END!
